CHON-JI TUL (9TH GUP WHITE BELT YELLOW TIP, 19 MOVEMENTS)

Chon-Ji means literally "the Heaven - the Earth." In the Orient, it is interpreted as the creation of the world or the beginning of human history, therefore, it is the initial pattern practiced by the beginner. This pattern consists of two similar parts: one representing Heaven and the other representing Earth.

Pattern meaning

Chon-Ji is the first Tul learned in traditional ITF Taekwon-Do and represents the beginning of all things. The two sections of the pattern symbolically represent Heaven and Earth, reflecting the origins of creation and the beginning of the student's Taekwon-Do journey.

Training note

Chon-Ji Tul introduces the student to the essential principles of Chang-Hon Taekwon-Do patterns. It develops correct walking stance mechanics, L-Stance transitions, directional movement, low blocking, middle blocking, punching, balance, breathing, coordination, and rhythm. Students should focus on accurate sine wave motion, clear diagram direction changes, and proper execution of both offensive and defensive techniques.
