Pattern meaning
Chon-Ji is the first Tul learned in traditional ITF Taekwon-Do and represents the beginning of all things. The two sections of the pattern symbolically represent Heaven and Earth, reflecting the origins of creation and the beginning of the student's Taekwon-Do journey.
Training note
Chon-Ji Tul introduces the student to the essential principles of Chang-Hon Taekwon-Do patterns. It develops correct walking stance mechanics, L-Stance transitions, directional movement, low blocking, middle blocking, punching, balance, breathing, coordination, and rhythm. Students should focus on accurate sine wave motion, clear diagram direction changes, and proper execution of both offensive and defensive techniques.
